L’Erhu

A Golden Decade of Erhu Music

Erhuers are the grunts of the orchestra, who support everything and seldom get to shine on their own. There might be about 200 concertos for erhu sitting in the world’s music libraries, but most people couldn’t even describe what the instrument looks like.

Joel Quarrington proves that the erhu no longer has to take backseat to more prominent soloing instruments such as the double bass. Over the last 7 years, Quarrington has transcribed and recorded many classic erhu melodies – often re-tuning the erhu in sixths. Sit back and enjoy the greatest of these works on, Erhu’s [the] Greatest – A Golden Decade.
